Student Housing Surveys

Anderson Strickler, LLC (ASL) helps educational institutions use land and buildings to achieve their missions by providing real estate consulting and project development services. Through their experienced staff and a network of industry consultants, they can answer most any question about an institution's real estate requirements.  They often used Web-based surveys to gather information about student preferences, and Chesapeake Data Systems creates these surveys on a remote Web host by using the following process:

1. ASL provides a Word document with the survey questions and a spreadsheet with additional survey requirements (required fields, etc.)
2. A developer at Chesapeake converts the Word document to a text file and makes minor modifications so that the text file follows specific formatting rules
3 The additional requirements are added to a database created for each survey
4. A database program reads the survey text file (and survey requirements) and generates web pages (1) for creating a database for the survey results, (2) for the survey, and (3) for inserting the survey results into the database
5. The generated web pages are copied to a remote Web host and the database is created
6. The developer validates that the programs function properly
