Web Database Application Specialists

Overview

Sophisticated Web-based database applications require complex HTML coding and extensive testing to insure that the pages function properly.  In order to reduce the time and effort needed to create Web database applications, Chesapeake Data Systems has develop methodologies that combine various types of electronic specifications with an extensive program library. This approach ensures that the developers understand the application requirements and that sophisticated code can be re-used. The result is that organizations are able to implement Web applications much more quickly than when using traditional development methods

We use our methodologies and program libraries to develop the following types of Web-based applications:

Surveys
1.  Specifications provided in either a text file or in a relational database
2.  Allows for required fields, data validation, enabling/disabling fields, calculations, skip to other questions, etc.
3.  Sends emails and tracking results by email address
4.  Allows users to view the results on the Web
Data Entry/Edit
1. Sophisticated Filter, List, Record, Report, and Export forms
2. Required fields, default values, data validation, duplicate checking, tabbed-forms, etc.
3.  Data for multiple “child” tables can be displayed on the same form as data for the “master” table
4.  Multiple child-table records can be edited at the same time
5.  Multiple levels of security
Reporting
1. Based on “SQL query strings” that define the fields to be retrieved
2. “Filter” forms (based on the fields contained in the “SQL query strings”) enable the user to specify the records to be included in the report
3.  Report layouts (as an HTML page ) specify where and how the data is to be placed a Web page. The layout can include data formatting, control breaks, control headers, control footers, and control totals
Searching
1.  Based on “SQL query strings” that define the fields to be retrieved
2.  “Filter” forms (based on the fields contained in the “SQL query strings”) enable the user to specify the records to be included in the search
3.  User-provided HTML templates are used to specify the layouts of the various forms
